The Neandertal Genome Browser

The Neandertal genome browser displays data for 1x coverage of the Neandertal genome derived from 3 Neandertal individuals from Vindija cave, Croatia.

Data is available for each individual, as well as for a combined consensus of the three individuals.

A more extensive description of the data is available here

The browser presents a mapping of the Neandertal genome sequencing reads to the human genome, rather than an independent assembly of the Neandertal genome.

Alignments to human (hg18) are available for a combined consensus of reads from 6 Neandertal individuals, as well as for each individual separately.

All sequences derived from the 6 fossils as well as Modern Human Sequencing reads are available from the European Short Read Archive (ERA).

The Neandertal Genome Project is based at the department of Evolutionary Genetics at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in collaboration with the Neandertal Genome Consortium.
